Bug Description

Trusty 14.04.3LTS recent kernel update partially denies connection with NetGear900 to Novatel Mifi

linux-firmware (1.127.18) to 1.127.19
link's-generic (3.13.0.71.77) to 3.13.0.73.79
linux-headers-generic (3.13.0.71.77) to 3.13.0.73.79
linux-image-generic (3.13.0.71.77) to 3.13.0.73.79
linux-libc-dev (3.13.0-71.114) to 3.13.0-73.116
linux-tools-common (3.13.0-71.114) to 3.13.0-73.116

Installed the following packages:
linux-headers-3.13.0-73 (3.13.0-73.116)
linux-headers-3.13.0-73-generic (3.13.0-73.116)
linux-image-3.13.0-73-generic (3.13.0-73.116)
linux-image-extra-3.13.0-73-generic (3.13.0-73.116)

Caused some form of loop or failure to complete which did not recognize or fully complete connection.
Temporary fix was to drop back to Linux kernel 3.13.0.71.77 under advanced in Grub

Same issue for both Ubuntu Trusty 14.04.3LTS and Linux Mint17.

Expectation was for the connect to complete

The universal wireless programming may have been compromised in the updated kernel.
The problem lay somewhere in the kernel itself and the hardware recognition of the Netgear 900.
It seems to see it but act weak. Wireless panel with available connections comes up but the completion of the connection seems restricted somehow.

Update of the December 16th Linux kernel does not fix the issue, return to older version Linux kernel 3.13.0.71.77
Have no idea as to whether this is wpasupplicant or the network manager but there seems to be an additional issue as the Netgear does not "see" a number of usually visible wireless connections (account) in the area (usually a half dozen or so) under either of the kernel updates mentioned..

This may be due more to some change in the accepted security
