Bug Description

just installed a fresh 16.04 daily build, updated and installed unity8 desktop session mir.

expected: unity8
actual result: black screen

Can you try if running gst-inspect-1.0 under any X11 session (unity7, plasma, xfce) fixes the problem?

i am no longer affected by this bug (update/upgrade ... something fixed it :o)

I have this problem right now.
System boots to the standard lightdm greeter, I choose Unity8, screens goes black and stays that way.

Same here. No mouse pointer or anything, just a pure black screen the moment I hit Enter after typing my password.

I have just tried the unity8 session. After entering the password, the screen went black and stayed black - no mouse, nothing. I am attaching the unity8 log.
