atril's window corrupted by epub file

I wanted to read an epub from
https://supporters.eff.org/donate/pwning-tomorrow
with mate's atril.

The file is PwningTomorrow_EFF_V1.epub with this sha2 hash:

The epub does cause atril to increase its window width so much that I cannot find the close X button to the right of the window title and it will also not display any text. Sometimes the window title contains garbled characters.

The same file in fbreader looks/works fine.
