Bug Description

Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper

Since yesterday (13/10/2007) update of gusty, I am unable to use nspluginwrapper : each time I bump into a site with flash or a pdf page I want to see in firefox, it give me an not responsive firefox.

I am using an up to date gutsy 64 bit, and before yesterday, nsplugin wrapper was working quite right (only a little sound issue).

Regards.

It seems that the installation script do not properly run nspluginwrapper -u to update the wrapped plugin for each installed plugin.

nspluginwrapper -l did report that the wrapper was 0.91.94 when the current version is 0.91.95

I do not know if the -u option works, I remove (-r) every plugin and reinstalled them (-i) and now it works.

One should maybe verify the installation script in the package to be sure that there is a "nspluginwrapper -u", and if there is, then the -u option is probably broken in nspluginwrapper

I think I may have this problem as well. I can't get any of my flash sites to run, but I don't know if it's been doing this since the update. Just noticed today when I needed to do some homework.

I can confirm Zenigata's fix worked for me.

64-bit firefox was hanging on sites with Flash. To fix:

1) Uninstall flashplugin-nonfree if installed through synaptic.
2) Get a list of any Flash remains with nspluginwrapper -l
3) For me this showed a combination of 0.91.94 and 0.91.95 versions. I manually deleted every file listed.
4) Run nspluginwrapper -l again and confirm no files listed.
5) Then I installed flashplugin-nonfree again through synaptic.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?

I can't reproduce this because I can't install Flash 10 on 8.10 (AMD64). This is related to bug #272314 I think. However, before the upgrade to 8.10, everything was working fine.

Changed in nspluginwrapper (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → Fix Released
