Please update to 3.8 or 4.1

Ubuntu ships joe-3.7.

3.8 was released which fixes many bugs (including a segfault) and adds a few minor new features (e.g. it finally uses the last column), but no big new features.

4.1 contains several brand new features as well.

I've been using 3.8 since it was released this March, without any problems. I haven't switched to 4.1 yet.

Please upgrade in Xenial to either the bugfix release 3.8 or to the latest and greatest 4.1 (whichever you prefer). LTS users deserve an upgrade from a version that's known to contain segfault bugs.

Xenial now ships 4.1.

As you metion, Ubuntu 16.04 included joe 4.1, so I believe that this issue can be marked as fixed. Note that Ubuntu 17.04 and later ships with joe 4.4. :)
