Bug Description

Comparing 3 devices I noticed the following reports for Other files in the About > Storage panel

Recent fresh flash 240 MB
Nexus 4 long term use 2 GB
MX4 mid term use 1.5 GB
(These are wrong see bug #1524424)

--- will add details of which files contribute

The services ubuntu-download-manager, ubuntu-location-service and system-image do not prune their logs.
upstart prunes to 7 most recent and likely maxes out over time.

52M /var/log
24M /var/log/ubuntu-download-manager
(bug #1461444)
4.1M /var/log/ubuntu-location-service
(bug #1447110)
3.9M /var/log/system-image
(see bug #1518955)
2.3M /var/log/upstart

As the devices was made writeable these could be viewed as an exception for developers but still relevant.

105M /var/cache
91M /var/cache/apt
43M /var/cache/apt/archives
12M /var/cache/apparmor
1.8M /var/cache/debconf

same for
109M /var/lib/apt/lists
109M /var/lib/apt

Need to understand if uninstalled apps count toward other

1.4G /opt/click.ubuntu.com
1.4G /opt

264M .local/share
287M .cache
