Most likely, gstreamer1.0-clutter is missing or is removed by something ... but why?

Hm, you're correct that installing gstreamer1.0-clutter puts it back in the window, but the video is now just green. So there's probably some issue with a newer API here.

FYI, a 3rd window will open when you mouse over the playback slider in the white window. This 3rd window is the Preview window.
