EMC ScaleIO Block Storage driver configuration in OpenStack Configuration Reference - liberty

Hi,

I have been trying to configure EMC ScaleIO as per the instructions on this page and couldn't get it to work. I did some digging only to find that, in order for a Cinder node to communicate to EMC ScaleIO, the Cinder node has to be configured as a ScaleIO SDC. As of ScaleIO 1.32, Ubuntu isn't supported anymore, therefore, a Cinder node running Ubuntu can't be used to communicate to EMC ScaleIO.

I am thinking that this page should be removed from the Liberty and Kilo installation guides.

Cinder can run on other distributions than Ubuntu, so I don't see why these instructions should be removed.

You are right, but I think the instructions need to be changed as simply following them doesn't provide a working environment. In the support matrix section, it should specify that only RHEL and SLES are supported and then in the detailed step by step config section, it should mention that fact that the node needs to be an EMC ScaleIO SDC and have the ScaleIO Gateway installed as well.
