Bug Description

good day all

this is my first bug report, please be nice

I have had this problem with Linux Mint 14 , Linux Mint 15 and now with Ubuntu Gnome 15.04, Ubuntu Gnome 15.10 again.

May I add, I recently got my USB headset while using Ubuntu 15.04 so the USB headset is not the problem

COLD BOOT

What happens: on cold boot, headphones and speakers occasionally work, USB headphones always work when plugged in or when hotplugged. Trying to unmute, adjust sound volume etc on headphones or speakers is pointless, nothing seems to make a sound

In sound adapters, all adapters are listed, adapter switches between speakers and headphones as expect, inshort sound adapter/s work exactly as expected/required BUT just no sound.

RESUME

When I resume from sleep, sound magically works (headphones and speakers) (and USB works like normal), I am not sure what other information is required, but I gave what I thought is relevant.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1520727/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

apologies, I don't think I am able to say with certainty which package it affects, what I can mention is ALSA is somewhere in the mix ,could someone be more specific to how to track which package the problem lies in, but pertaining to my "driver" issue, thnx

I can confirm this bug & more interestingly, I have exactly the same sound device: Audio device: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)

I can see no issues with it working, things *feel* like they are working. When I plug in a headphone jack, the device is switched. Pauvcontrol even shows audio coming through it in levels. There simply isn't any actual audio from the jack.
