Kernel regression

Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6-386

It must be something wrong with kernel 2.6.22-14

2.6.23 installed with kernelcheck and this gives a
huge boost in performance.

Network/Internet most notable, no problems with DHCP/DNS any longer.

"bling" is also much faster and glxgears gives much better results.

plun@dunder:~$ uname -r
2.6.23-hydra

Sorry, but what is the purpose of this bug report? Are you implying that an Ubuntu-distributed kernel performs poorly in comparison to a self-compiled, newer, upstream one?

Well, this one was old but is actual... ;)

Its the same now with 2.6.27-7 compared with 2.6.28-RC2...

I have "hardlocks", more or less, with Ubuntus kernel and RC2 just works.

No racing conditions for example with PackageKit...

( I am not "implying"... just cold facts... :) )

((There is a bug assigned to Mr Collins about hardlocks))

This is not a bug in the linux-meta package, moving to the linux package.
