Bug Description

Hi:
   My system is ubuntu7.04,and I want to upgrade to ubuntu7.10,the problem is this:
   The system was unable to get the prerequisites for the upgrade will abort now and restore the original system state.
   Please report this as a bug against the 'update-manager'package and include the files in /var/log/dist-update/ in the bugreport.
   please answer me quickly.

There are some other problems such as
     can't get the lock /var/lib/lists/lock-open(11 Resources temporarily unavailable);
     can't lock the list menu.

Same for me.

From Ubuntu 7.04 (with xubuntu-desktop installed) to Ubuntu 7.10.

I'm like Tyler: Xubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 (installed xubuntu-desktop after the ordinary ubuntu)

I first updated the system with all the patches that appeared on the update manager with no errors, and then tried to upgrade.

One more thing I forgot before: it stays some time downloading the file 61 of 62 in the first step before throwing the error.

And the last thing: I just retried without modifying anything at all and the update progress seems not to fail at this step now, this appears to be some problem with the network at some point.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
