Bug Description
the zram module of the kernel when loaded seems to me to be behaving well in computers having up to 2 GB RAM, and even to be very desirable to have, as some programs started together can reveal to be quite greedy, depending on the other components of the computers (cpu, FSB, GPU…).
For exemple, recently a friend of mine complained that there was lag in Libreoffice while typing, when Firefox was also running. In the Ubuntu editions some need more resources than others, and while Ubuntu Unity is said to need (? 512MB minimum), I have seen Ubuntu Unity in a machine which didn't have more than 2 GB RAM and it was as much a pain to use as a quite fragmented Windows : this is where adding 2 GB to make it 4 fixed the problem.
All experiences added bring me to request kindly that the part of the compcache hook zram limit in initramfs-tools be raised to 2 GB. This would be very nice, and useful.
I enclose a patch.
Best regards,
Mélodie
