window/task bar icon missing when installed in non-standard location

Bug Description
I uninstalled my inkscape installed by standard package, and now suddenly my testing inkscape instances have no window or taskbar icon. su_v confirmed this behavior, so I took a quick look and came up with this patch that is tailored for linux/*nix users. Let me know if it breaks anything.
