Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When I right click on window title, chose Move to another Workspace: for example Desk 3. The window is moved to desktop three . But then if I chose on the desktop three move to desktop two. The window is moved back to the first desktop.
An this is in each cases ... first move is right and in another turn when I want moved it on a different desktop (non the first one) the window is moved back to the first desktop.

Without Compiz it's work properly.

I can confirm this happening with compiz 1:0.6.0+git20071008-0ubuntu1 with both "normal" settings and my custom settings.

I did some debugging with compiz upstream today and it seems that this is a libwnck problem.

Skeletonix,

It looks like this might be a duplicate of bug #130659 .

To be sure, could you try creating a new user and enabling desktop effects and see if it works correctly then? If it does, then it is a duplicate, if not, then it is something different.

Thanks,

greg

I have a similar Visual Effects problem. With Visual Effects enabled, setup six workspaces. In Workspace 6, open a Terminal. From the Terminal window header, choose Move To Another Workspace->Desk 5. The leftmost edge of Terminal can now be found on the far right of Desk 6. Turn off Visual Effects and the problem goes away.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the actively developed release. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW] http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/

For me the problem is, that it works without compiz on latest live or hardy release. It does`t work by activating compiz on a installed hardy system. On the live system I`m unable to test it, because I need a restricted nvidia driver to use compiz.
