We will need the logs from /var/log after this error happens to diagnose this.

Hi Phillip,

I have attached the _usr_lib_ubiquity_bin_ubiquity.0.crash file, apport.log, kern.log, syslog file.
This should be able to help you to understand the issue.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks,
Goutam

Because of this crash i am not able to install ubuntu-15.10-desktop iso image and ubuntu-gnome-15.10-desktop.iso
If there is any workaround to bypass the timezone select and proceed the installation let us know.

Thanks,
Goutam

Strange: I don't see any errors in syslog. What about the partman log file? Can you run the "disc check" option from the boot menu?

Phillip,

Did you check _usr_lib_ubiquity_bin_ubiquity.0.crash file ?

Phillip Susi (psusi) wrote :

Yes.. it indicates that the python interpreter itself crashed, which normally does not happen barring corruption in either the disk or ram. Hence why I asked about the check disc, and the memtest option also would be good ( it will run forever if you don't stop it... let it go for at least 15 minutes ).
