Bug Description

When I put my primary display under secondary using System Settings / Display and press Apply, X crashes and I see the login screen.

Result is the same if I use xrandr directly.

Christian, thank you very much for your help. Here is the info you've requested:

$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
X555LN.311
04/10/2015

I've updated BIOS, and was able to successfully change display position using System Settings / Display (I had to press Detect Displays for that to work).

However, after I logged out from Unity, I was not able to log back --- Unity now crashes back to the login screen.

I will try running xrandr and report results in the next comment.

As expected xrandr crashes X too. I've seen what looks like a bunch of these messages before login screen appeared:

[drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0)

Alexander Gladysh, any change with http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ ?

Sorry for the delay — was only able to find time to reboot yesterday.

Daily live (from about a week ago) seems to help. I was able to change display position, log out and log back again from the live usb (without installation).

Alexander Gladysh, if you install it, is the issue reproducible?
