Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-mouse

First of all here my configuration :
Laptop PC : TARGA
CPU : Athlon XP 2000+
GPU : ATI Mobile Radeon 9000

Then the explanation :

Periodically (each 30 seconds), when I'm using the integrated touchpad, the mouse pointer stays stuck on the screen (only the pointer freezes). At this time, I can still use the keyboard, and I have to wait a few seconds (5 seconds) before I can move the pointer again with the integrated touchpad.
I don't use any extra mouse.

Hi there,

I've a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A1630 (Athlon64 3700+, Ubuntu 7.10) notebook with a synaptics touchpad and it seems as if I've the same problem: After logging-in into Gnome everything works fine, but after ~30 sec. the touchpad just stops responding and the mouse pointer stucks. Afer 3-5 sec. it works again.
In addition after approximately 30 min. of operation as described above, the vertical scroll "bar" on the right side of the touchpad as well as the tapping does not work anymore, although the options "tap on click" and "vertical scrolling" in the touchpad-tab under System/Settings/Mouse are both activated. Hence for drag'n drop operations I have to use the touchpad-buttons, which is less convenient of course.

could also be a dup of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/34501/ .

there i8042.nomux option is suggested.
