save optimized svg creates empty lines

When I save my svg as "optimized SVG" (all options deselected, see attached screenshot) the result is an xml file where every second line is empty.

I use Inkscape 0.48.5 r10040

Please note that for your platform (assuming Windows, based on the screenshot of the used scour options for 'Optimized SVG'), a newer stable release (Inkscape 0.91) is available since Jan 30 earlier this year.
- Does the same Issue reproduce on your system with current stable Inkscape 0.91?
- Which software (plain-text editor) do you use to verify the content of the file saved as 'Optimized SVG' with (outdated) Inkscape 0.48.5?
