Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz-kde

I dist-upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy (kubuntu) and I gave a try to compiz-kde.
If I start a "normal" kde session (with kwin) and *then* I start "compiz --replace &" it seems to be working.
If I put a compiz.sh file in $HOME/.kde/env with the following lines in it:

#!/bin/sh
export KDEWM="/usr/bin/compiz"

as suggested somewhere on the web, the next session will start without the task bar and with "compiz.real" crashed.
If I try to open any kind of window, then, it disappears and it behaves strangely.
With "strangely" I mean: if I open/close several windows, the first time they don't show. Then I open some more 'konsole' and by switching among them finally they stay open and visible.
If I click on the window title bar the window disappear again.

This behaviour seems to be related to some settings I change with the compizconfig-settings-manager.
A few versions ago, I have been able to stop this problem by switching to a flat file configuration. Now no more.

Is there anything I need to change/try to fix it?

I've seen compiz updated twice some days ago, so I think I cannot
provide useful traces.
besides it seems to be an one-off situation. It did not happen that
dramatic recently.

I'll mark this bug as confirmed as apport thinks bug 208473 is a duplicate of this one. However, it does not contain any stacktraces as apport doesn't add them to duplicates.

Since the upgrades to Compiz I am no longer crashing on the following revision:

I intend to close this bug unless other testers report it is still crashing for them on the current Intrepid compiz revision.

Aurimas, could you please either mark this bug as a duplicate then (by the way, what exactly makes you think so?) or refrain from marking all duplicates of this as duplicates? This creates really annoying spam in my inbox, as apport still marks them as a duplicate of this bug, as it's still open.

Both these bugs (and duplicates) have compiz crash in doPoll.
I can't mark it as duplicate, because I need to mark Bug #272512 as duplicate first,
however, I am "Not allowed" to open it.
