Bug Description

After upgrading to wily and digikam 4.12.0 the information about geolocation is completely gone. Also gone is the ability to tag photos mit geo-information. I did a clean install of wily in a virtual machine - still no geolocation. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install/upgrade wily 15.10 2. fire up digikam 3. stare at the missing information ;-)

This bug refers to a packaging problem, so it should be connected to the packaging project, right?

This one seems to be connected to the missing libkgeomap2, see bugs #1510760 (status undecided) and #1459443 (status triaged).

affects: digikam → digikam (Ubuntu)

THis is a known issue. The probelm is marble went to KF5 and libkgeonmap it qt4 only. So this is a matter of Marble needing to be split into a qt5 and qt4 packages.

Still not there.
One reason i've recommended linux for windows users. I think there's no real alternative. Too bad...

Accidentally checked on this as I wanted digiKam mainly for its impressive geolocation UI, and this appear to still be broken in Xenial repos.
For those looking, do note that digiKam 5.x came out in the last few months, and the "appimage" packages provided by the team do work just fine over here: https://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/

Ubuntu Zesty (WIP) repos appear to ship 5.x (http://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/digikam), which I assume also resolves this ticket, alas not for LTS releases.
