Bug Description

Every time I use LibreOffice and try to resize the window (which starts as full screen) Xorg produces a segfault and returns me to the login screen. This is easy to reproduce and is not document dependent - it happens with a blank document in any of the LibreOffice applications.

Paul Tansom, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g510-notebook an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (3.09). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

I spotted that BIOS update yesterday, somewhat annoyed that I missed it as I've been waiting for one since I got the laptop (problems with suspend and resume that seem to be related). I thought I would get update notifications from Lenovo the same as I do from HP, but there you go. I have now tried it and the issue seems to have been fixed. I've tried to get the problem to recur, and I've also tried out the issues listed in the bug this has been linked to (but I couldn't reproduce any of those even before the BIOS update), but so far everything is working as it should, so I think my issue is solved.
