Bug Description

Mac OS X 10.11 series
 -------------------------------------------------------
[ This is Stellarium 0.15.0 - http://www.stellarium.org ]

If Night Mode is toggled on then the Keyboard Shortcuts for Navigation (⇦ ⇧ ⇨ ⇩) will no longer work. Turning off Night Mode does not restore Keyboard Shortcuts for Navigation either.

The only way to restore the Keyboard Shortcuts for Navigation is to hit the F2 key for Configuration and then Exit the Configuration screen.

Additional Info ...

While in Night Mode you can open the Configuration window (F2) and then Exit the Configuration window. This will then allow the Navigation (⇦ ⇧ ⇨ ⇩) keys to work again.

What is going on here is that by clicking on the button for Night Mode, the main display no longer has focus. And this would be the case if you clicked on any button on any bar, not just Night Mode. With Qt, keystrokes are sent to the foreground frame, which is now the button bar.

You can also just simply click in the main window to return focus there, and then continue to use the arrow keys. You do not have to follow the procedure you outline (although that has the same end-effect).

Chris (cburford1) wrote :

It still appears that their may be a glitch in the navigation keys. Sometimes when I (single) click the main window to regain focus the directional arrow keys still won't respond.

If you double click (de-select) a selected object then focus is lost again and the directional arrow keys cease to function.

The 0.15.0RC1 Beta fixes this bug, however, it also has introduced another issue where the toolbar now floats at mid-left screen when night mode is toggled on (See screen cap attachment).

I was unable to exit the Stellarium application or use any of the toolbar buttons while using night mode.

The new bug mentioned by @cburford1 basically makes night mode unusable for new users (who are used to using the menu.)

Unsure of the conventions around renaming issues, but I renamed it and humbly ask for forgiveness if that's taboo.

Seems like this should be assigned to someone and the priority upped. :)

error :(

Version 0.15.2 changed a lot, esp. related to night mode. Admittedly, it introduced the Mac touch panel slowdown (https://bugs.launchpad.net/stellarium/+bug/1705832). Is this here still open, or can we declare it superseded/invalid?

Hmm, that may be a workaround. There is a big issue (see above) with the Mac version currently. Do you run the Win64 version 0.16.0 or later on Mac (Crossover, Wine, ??) successfully?

But the question is whether this NightMode problem on Macs is superseded (by that other problem).
