Kate missing Text Filter plugin

The Text Filter plugin for Kate was previously present in Kubuntu 14.10 (and earlier), but isn't there in 15.10.

This was reported in KDE and patched in July: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347243

In looking at Kate's git repository, those files appear to be present under their tags for 15.08: https://quickgit.kde.org/?p=kate.git

So, it looks like that plugin should have made it into KDE Applications 15.08, and therefore made it into Kubuntu 15.10.

You can open Kate -> Settings -> Configure Kate -> Plugins to see it's not there.

So can that get added back?

I have used kate for many years and, in particular, depend on the the text filter plugin. However it seems to have disappeared from kate 5.0. It was present in kate 3.14.1 which was packaged with Ubuntu 14.10, but when I upgraded to Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Verlet) and with it to kate 5.0.0, the text filter plugin was not offered (under Settings>Configure Kate...>Application>Plugins).

Expected Results:
An option is offered labelled "Text Filter" with comment "Easy text filtering" as in previous versions of kate.

Thanks for the report and the upstream information.
So, the fact is that the commit in question missed 15.08 by 5 days and nobody bothered applying that to the 15.08 stable branch either (I checked the Applications/15.08 branch, and the plugin is still disabled there). I'll check with upstream if this is safe enough to apply to 15.08 so it can be part of the 15.08.3 release next week, otherwise this will have to wait for 15.12.

So, I talked to Christoph, and he can't add this to the 15.08 branch because it would require new translations, which isn't allowed for bugfixes. I'm also not comfortable with adding untranslated features in an SRU, so this will have to wait until 15.12. Wily will get that through the backports PPA once it's out.

Fixed since kate 15.12.1 was uploaded to xenial
