Screen doesn't lock when a context menu active

Bug Description

If I open a context menu anywhere, the screen doesn't lock anymore.

Example:

* open gedit
* write down the root password, select it and right-click
* close laptop lid
* wait
* open lid
* the screen is not locked and everything is on display

Interestingly, as soon as I get rid of the context menu, the screen locks.

This is not just annoying, it's a privacy/security issue, as the screen might have sensitive information I don't want other people to read by just opening the laptop lid.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 49579, so it is being marked as such.

This is a fundamental bug in the design of X11 and cannot be easily fixed within X11.

You should manually lock your screen if a locked session is important to you.

Please continue to report any other bugs you may find.
