Update icon error appears

I have an icon on the top panel with an update error and cannot update

Notifications indicator doesn't have control over this. Marking invalid

It is a notification icon that appears and shows

As Daniel said, this hasn't to do anything with this indicator. This indicator -only- displays previous missed notifications in an indicator, not currently displayed. Also, the problem you are having is not the system but the repositories you've added that are likely dead and unmaintained, to remove this problem remove these.

Adam, Thank you so much. I am very new at Linux/Ubuntu. I am not getting the notifications anymore. I will continue learning more about this amazing software.
