In terminal do

sudo modprobe -v ath3k

Any errors? I am using the same bluetooth chipset with the same kernel and it works without any issue but I know Atheros bluetooth devices need ath3k loaded

I loaded ath3k, but "no adapters found" in system tray from bluedevil-monolithic, what do you think now? what the heck?

Do a shutdown and a cold boot, not a restart and post

lsusb; lsmod | grep bluetooth

I don't remember seeing this device show the 0cf3:3005 ID until firmware gets loaded by ath3k and the 0cf3:3005 ID is not in the device list for ath3k. Mine actually shows 13d3:3304 until ath3k loads
