[KUbuntu 7.04] Konqueror not showing the bookmark bar anymore

I'm not able to either view the bookmark bar or to create a bookmark folder to be used as a bookmark bar.
Moreover, when I add a new bookmark with Bookmark-->Add a bookmark I don't see any new bookmark in the menu.
I'm running KDE 3.5.6.

For the sake of completeness I've also run:

sudo chmod -R enzo:enzo .

In order to be sure to have the right ownership of home files.
I have also tried to create a new bookmark folder for the bookmark bar. Konqueror refuses to create it as well as to create any bookmark.
I've requested a reinstall of konqueror with no luck.

Any hint?

No, sorry, I can't reproduce the bug.

Have you tried this with another user? If that works, try moving your
.kde to another place and try again with your user. If that works,
there's definitely something wrong with your kde configuration.

Well, with another user it seems the bookmark management is working.
So your idea seems to be right. What I'd like to avoid is to loose:
- 2+ GB email in KMail
- 1000+ Contacts in Kontact
- 100+ saved forms and passwords in KDE Wallet Manager

Is there a way to be sure to save and later restore them?
