Please, find attached the French translation update for Hugin.
I applied to the latest hg version.

Here is the summary of the version I used:

1 - translation of Hugin itself
I'm often solicited by people who want to help or report mistakes.
But when I answer these people, I never have other propositions then.

On launchpad, there is a "translation" entry: https://translations.launchpad.net/hugin
But it is empty.

Maybe it should be a good idea [tm] to have something there. So we can have some kind of proofreading without talking about the exact meaning of a word or another. I'm quite careful in doing the translation but as I don't use *every* functionality of hugin, there are probably some parts which escapes the tests.

2 - translation of the documentation
Is there a need for that ?

3 - translation of the releases notes and so.
I remarked, a long time ago, that someone (I cannot remember) done a translation of some pages, but it was not in sync with the translation of the program. This can be confusing.
I mentioned that on the mailing list but nothing follows.

Thanks for your work. I committed your changes. But there seems something wrong with your extract-messages.sh. After updating all po files and applying your changes I'm still getting

fr.po
1597 translated messages, 3 fuzzy translations.

Please check if all is ok.

Now to your comments:
1 - translation of Hugin itself, using Launchpad translations
That would be an option. First we need to ask the other translators, if they would also use launchpad for this. And second point - more important - is the licence. Hugins translations are (like the source code) GPL licensed. But using Launchpad Translations would require a BSD license for the translations. So the translators would need to relicense their work. Maybe you could post to the mailing list to get a feedback from other translator about their feelings.

2 - translation of the documentation

That I can't answer. But keep in mind that this is a big task, because the documentation is big and would need updates also when the English one changes.
But if you want to do it, you can do it.
Maybe a kind of tutorial where you describe some aspect would also be helpful for other users.

The release note are published in the release phase (beta .., release candidates) and can be translated and will be used on the website.
But in this case the translators of one language should arrange for one version. We can't check this.
