Bug Description

"Start with a simple two-stop gradient. Open the Gradient editor (e.g. by double-clicking on any gradient handle in the Gradient tool). Add a new gradient stop in the middle; drag it a bit. Then add more stops before and after the middle stop and drag them too, so that the gradient is smooth. The more stops you add, the smoother you can make the resulting gradient. Here's the initial black-white gradient with two stops:"

- Double-clicking on a gradient handle in Gradient tool does exactly the same as single-clicking, no extra gradient editor dialog opens. (I also don't understand why more stops make a gradient 'smoother' - they just distribute the colors differently...)

--------------------
"In the default template, the unit of measure used by the rulers is px (“SVG user unit”, in Inkscape it's equal to 0.8pt or 1/90 of the inch). This is also the unit used in displaying coordinates at the lower-left corner and preselected in all units menus. (You can always hover your mouse over a ruler to see the tooltip with the units it uses.) To change this, open <command>Document Properties</command> (<keycap>Shift+Ctrl+D</keycap>) and change the <command>Default units</command> on the <command>Page</command> tab."

- needs adaptation to new resolution for 0.92, I believe...? The 0.8 pt can probably stay the same, maybe add an 'about'?

------------------
(Bezier tool, how to finish a line)

"Select the Pen tool from the toolbar"

"Select another tool"

- Won't work. Right-click does, but isn't mentioned.

------------------
"Suppose you want to create a 24x24 pixel icon. Create a 24x24 px canvas (use the <command>Document Preferences</command>) and set the grid to 0.5 px (48x48 gridlines). Now, if you align filled objects to <emphasis>even</emphasis> gridlines, and stroked objects to <emphasis>odd</emphasis> gridlines with the stroke width in px being an even number, and export it at the default 90dpi (so that 1 px becomes 1 bitmap pixel), you get a crisp bitmap image without unneeded antialiasing."

- unit adaptation needed

------------------
"PostScript or EPS formats do not support <emphasis>transparency</emphasis>, so you should never use it if you are going to export to PS/EPS. In the case of flat transparency which overlays flat color, it's easy to fix it: Select one of the transparent objects; switch to the Dropper tool (<keycap>F7</keycap>); make sure it's in the “pick visible color without alpha” mode; click on that same object. That will pick the visible color and assign it back to the object, but this time without transparency. Repeat for all transparent objects. If your transparent object overlays several flat color areas, you will need to break it correspondingly into pieces and apply this procedure to each piece."

- Did this mode exist in previous versions? Or is it just a description of the buttons that should be activated? (or rather, deactivated)? Seems to need adaptation to be easier to understand.

Same question here as in the other bug: Would you like me to fix this? Is it urgent at all?
(I never asked, because you always self-assigned to these bugs...)

More clarifications on the status:
- Inkscape: triaged/jazzynico means that I'm in charge of generating the SVG and HTML files when the documentation is updated (so for now, there's nothing to do but wait).
- Inkscape-docs: triages/unassigned means that some work must be done in the XML file, but nobody's working on it currently.

So yes, feel free to self-assign to the inkscape-docs part!

It would be great if we could fix all the tutorials we linked to 0.92 quickly so that translators have time to send updates before the official release. But it can also wait until the next version if we can't find time now.

Thanks!

Nicolas, the tutorial mentions a default unit, which is now called 'display unit', and it says that the default is px. In my local trunk copy, using the English interface (but without any changes to my system locale, I think), it shows mm there.

Do you happen to know if this depends on my own system settings, or if there was a change that needs to be reflected in the tutorial?

Left the above question out, all else is fixed in the patch (additionally updated the tiled clones rotation center setting part).

Ouch, I'm definitely not an unit expert, and I have no idea what's going on. To be investigated.
