15.04 installation continued and completed despite unmet dependencies. However, sudo was no longer recognizing commands.

~$ sudo shutdown -r now
The program 'shutdown' can be found in the following packages:
 * systemd-sysv
 * upstart-sysv
 * molly-guard
Try: sudo apt-get install <selected package>

~$ sudo apt-get install systemd-sysv

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 ubuntu-desktop : Depends: xorg but it is not going to be installed
 ubuntu-minimal : Depends: init
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

~$ sudo apt-get -f install
The following extra packages will be installed:
  init systemd-sysv xorg xserver-xorg xserver-xorg-input-evdev
Suggested packages:
  xorg-docs xfonts-100dpi xfonts-75dpi
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  init systemd-sysv xorg xserver-xorg xserver-xorg-input-evdev
