Bug Description

Binary package hint: hotkey-setup

Hi,

I have been playing with getting the acpi volume key working on my ASUS F3jm laptop. I noticed that the /usr/share/acpi_support dir didn't exist, which the /etc/acpi/volupbtn.sh script referred to. I installed some acpi packages and then the scripts started working again. The problem is that the OSD up say it sets the volume at 11% and won't go any higher. The volume down key goes to 0% and the Mute OSD visually is working.

The problem is that the key's have no affect on the sound and the kmix volume doesn't change at all. I figure that the volume keys are set to the wrong device but I'm not sure.

Hello,
I had this bug with Kubuntu Feisty, and resolved it by doing a right click on the KMix icon, and switching the master canal to PCM.

But now i've got quite the same problem with Ubuntu Gutsy. Indeed, the hotkeys only change the CD volume, and not PCM... I haven't found the solution yet, but i'll try to work it out.

Hi again,

I've found the solution for Gnome : From the System menu, click Preferences -> Sound, and in the Default Mixer Tracks field, choose PCM.

This seems more to be a Ubuntu general configuration problem than a hotkey-setup bug.

Not a KDE issue. Something in the subsystem I'd assume. First guess would be the driver itself.

Simply configure kmix to use a different mixer element.
