trevor, to clarify https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1503343/comments/2 , if you have had a virus, even if it has since been removed, and you then are having problems, this would be due to to fallout from that, versus a bug in Ubuntu.

Hence, could you please advise if you do a reinstall, do the problems go away?
