Bug Description

I have made an observation using Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 64bit with firefox as standard browser and opera as additional browser.
Even though firefox is set as standard internet application (within settings->preferred applications) some software starts opera when a browser is needed. The intended behaviour (i.e. every time a browser is needed that one is started which was set as preferred) was achieved only when I additionally adjusted it in a terminal with "sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser". Of course, setting the browser preferencies within Cinnamon settings should be sufficient to achieve the intended bahaviour. With other words, when setting the preferred internet application, the cinnamon settings should automatically adjust the alternatives system as well.

I cannot change the default audio player from Brasero to SMPlayer in the Preferred Applications window. It appears to change but reverts back. The Brasero playlist editor does not work, so I changed to SMPlayer, but have to open it manually.

I am using LM 17.3 Cinnamon.

I should have said Banshee, rather than Brasero.

I changed the audio default application by editing '~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list'.

I did a search and replace and changed all occurances of 'banshee' to 'smplayer'. It now works as I wish.
