Bug Description
During every boot sequence, SMART commands are sent to this SSD, causing a minute long hang, until a kernel error message appears, telling me that some SMART command failed. Since SSDs are not the target audience for SMART checks anyway, I wanted to disable smart checks through gnome-disk tool.
When I tried to disable SMART for this disk, I got the following error message:
=======
Error sending ATA command SMART, sub-command DISABLE OPERATIONS: ATA command failed: error=0x04 count=0x00 status=0x51 (g-io-error-
=======
After closing the error dialog, SMART switch in the window is turned back on :( All I wanted was disable SMART checks during boot time for this disk ....
The kernel message (taken from dmesg output) regarding SMART and the SSD at boot time is as follows:
=======
