Bug Description

In firefox 41.0, running with a fresh profile, (both on 12.04 and 15.04), the instant messaging in "hello" in firefox does not seem to be working properly.

The video and audio connections work correctly, but the instant messaging is one-sided. The receiver of the call (who can be using any webrtc-compatible browser) can send messages and view the sent and received messages, but the initiator of the call (who has to be using firefox) can only send messages, without being able to see the message history (including none of the messages sent by the other person). In addition, when the initiator sends their messages, by pressing enter, they don't disappear, as in any normal messaging program, but persist in the entry field (however, they are received by the other side.)

With firefox 41.0 directly downloaded from Mozilla's website, the instant messaging works correctly (both sides can send messages and view the message history).

(Note for ease of testing, in case it's helpful:
One can connect to (i.e. open the conversation link in) the same instance of firefox, on the same computer, but in a new tab. Obviously I had detected the above bug also when connecting to another computer.)

Hello, any news on this bug?
Firefox Hello instant messaging is still broken in Firefox 44.
How did it happen? It looks like Ubuntu packages of Firefox are adding bugs to the original Firefox from Mozilla website, is there any advantage of using Ubuntu version?

Given that Hello has been removed from Firefox, this bug can probably be closed.

I'm not sure what is the preferred changed status in such a case, or I'd do it myself — "invalid"? "fix released"?
