Bug Description

I have error during first connection with my m515 over USB. Problem was solved
by changing /dev/pilot (this is default setting) on /dev/ttyUSB1. So, my bug
report about wrong default port setting.

Distro: Hoary 5.04 (array-7) with updates.

Unfortunately we can't guess at the port across various distros. Really we need
HAL support.

This problem is present in all the distributions as /dev/pilot is not created by
default and I also encountered this is SuSE 9.3. There are some problems when
syncing the pilot device over USB.
Please go through the following link for a workaround to this problem (This
workaround is given for FC3 but should be applicable to other distros as well,
as it worked for me for SuSE 9.3):

After creating a udev rule for the pilot device (in my case it was Palm visor so
I created a file 10-visor.rules in the /etc/udev/rules.d directory)following the
instructions present in the above link, I was able to successfully sync the
pilot device over USB."

maybe you can try the instruction pointed by the comment?

Macavity? Did you try the instructions? Do you still face this bug?

"I'm going to mark this as WONTFIX, as pilot-link is moving away from
the visor module and towards using libusb; this way we'll avoid the need
for ttyUSB devices altogether (and get a good speedup, too)."
