Bug Description

To replicate follow these steps

1) Maximize an application that has a menu bar (Firefox, Thunderbird, Gnome Terminal, Libre Office, ...)

2) Select a menu item, for instance Help -> "About Firefox" in Firefox application

3) Close the about window

4) Click on the menu bar again (for instance "Help" in Firefox) to expand the associated menu

Result is that the application window exits from its maximized state.

I have replicated this problem on both my office computer and my home computer (both running 14.04).

Hello John,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with the compiz package. You made this bug report in 2015 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug?
If you are, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 1498407
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.
G
