Bug Description

I an using a Meizu MX4 with software version 15.04 (r4). Even though this is a powerfull phone moving between scopes is still laggy and slow also some auto refresh as you move to them.
I would like to suggest that auto refresh takes place in the background so all scopes are ready when you flick through them.
Also I wonder if a scope selection system would be a good idea so you could just direct to the scope you want and not have to scroll through many scopes before reaching the one you wish to use.

Note, The Today scope is improving slowly and the time for each item to show is reducing, but basically its still far too slow to be the main scope. If you refresh say the BBC news scope it completes in a 2 seconds, the today scope still takes 10s (even after fixing the delay to show calls and texts). I understand people are working very hard to improve this key area.

Thanks for your support

Regards

Dave H

The bug contains several issues,

1. Slow speed

2. Navigation issues
-> this one is very important I think. I have seven active scopes (indicated by the dots). It takes me up to 6 taps, to go to one of my FAVORITE scopes. Each tap, it starts to load a new scope, which takes time.
-> I think an easy solution, that does not conflict with design issues, would be to just make the dots clickable. I know, they are small, but even if I pick a neighbor, I would end up having 2 taps - instead of 6!

realize things have changed quite a bunch since this bug was logged. but we do have an activity ongoing investigating potential areas of improvement for dash/scope scrolling and swiping.

We really should consider some investigation just into the flow as outlined by 2) of comment #7 above.

Hi Kevin,

Regarding the speed and operation of the dash/scope scrolling and swiping, I read a report that the “turn the book page” current scope style, could change to a vertical swipe, similar to the one used in the browser. I tried this idea using the browser and would like to say how flat and uninteresting it is when compared to the natural action of swiping right/left through full pages. I think this idea is a real mistake and could reduce appeal of scopes and there aesthetic look and feel. I think a quick link approach (as suggested above) “using the page dots” could work great, and you don’t need to start again from scratch with an uninteresting, easy solution. Please can you reconsider this important scope navigation and focus on improving the current method speed and refresh.
Your support is appreciated.
