missing "i" letter in this text imported from a pdf file

Bug Description

Reproduced in inkscape 0.91 on debian jessie
Steps to reproduce:
- import the attached pdf file, page 7
- observe the text in the orange box
=> the "i" letter in "figure" is missing.

Attaching page 7 of original PDF (separated and uncompressed with qpdf)

Symptom: ligature defined with custom encoding in embedded font is incorrectly imported in Inkscape
Example: 'fi' --> 'f' ('i' is missing)

Reproduced with Inkscape 0.91 r13725 and 0.91+devel r14375 on OS X 10.7.5.

Reproduced on Windows XP, Inkscape trunk rev. 14506, with internal PDF import.
Not reproduced with Poppler/Cairo import.
