Bug Description

Hello, I am running inkscape 0.91 on a macbook pro running OS X Yosemite (10.10.4). The spell check feature is unresponsive and when I attempt to end the process by clicking the stop button, Inkscape shuts down. Please tell me how to fix this....

By the way, I am not a programmer, but tech savvy. So please give me directions I can follow.

A quick test confirms that including "${PREFIX}/lib/aspell-0.60/" in the application package fixes this (content of aspell dicts, e.g. 'aspell-dict-en' in MacPorts).

Pending more thorough tests with the local build prefix fully hidden, I will fix the osx packaging scripts to include any required but currently missing data of the (default) English aspell dictionary when filling the application bundle, and will commit this to trunk as well as backport it to the stable release branch (for 0.91.1).

To bypass Gatekeeper, please follow these steps [2]:
1. From System Preferences, open "Security & Privacy".
2. At the bottom of the General pane, change "Allow apps downloaded from:" to "Anywhere".
3. Start Inkscape.
4. After Inkscape has launched, go back to "Security & Privacy" and revert the setting to "Mac App Store and identified developers".

[2] The application is not signed, and bypassing Gatekeeper on a per-app basis no longer seems to work for Inkscape.app after security updates provided by Apple earlier this year (bug #1478053)
