Periodic system freeze

Bug #14969 reported by Jean-Paul Calderone

Bug Description

About once a week (but as frequently twice a day and as infrequently as once a
month), my system freezes up completely. After power cycling the system is fine
again until the next time. Often this will happen overnight when the system is
not responding to user input. The system has been stable with previous linux
installs. I am currently using Hoary Hedgehog. I'm uncertain as to the exact
version, however these two lines appear in my /etc/apt/sources.list file:

deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 5.04 _Hoary Hedgehog_ - Preview i386 Binary-1 (20050310)]/
hoary main restricted
deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 5.04 _Hoary Hedgehog_ - Alpha i386 Binary-1 (20050206)]/
unstable main restricted

Below is the output of various commands which may be helpful. If there is more
information I should provide, let me know.

PCI: Using ACPI for IRQ routing
** PCI interrupts are no longer routed automatically. If this
** causes a device to stop working, it is probably because the
** driver failed to call pci_enable_device(). As a temporary
** workaround, the "pci=routeirq" argument restores the old
** behavior. If this argument makes the device work again,
** please email the output of "lspci" to <email address hidden>
** so I can fix the driver.
