when the set command is passed without any parameters it throws some sort of source code on the screen

when ever I type in the set command with out any parameters it throws unexpected behaviour . Though I am not yet any expert in Computer world but I am sure it is not supposed to reveal any sort of code .

`set` is a bash builtin command that displays the names values of all shell variables when invoked without any arguments. Shell functions are implemented as variables, technically (although you cannot see the body of the function with echo $functionname).
This is working as designed and has noting to do with gnome-terminal.
