Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Just locks up randomly while I am using my computer, so far it has only done it with compiz enabled but not with metacity, not sure if it is xorg's fault or compiz or...? Anyhow, attached is the log and my xorg.conf

I notice you're getting this backtrace in your log:

Backtrace:
0: /usr/X11R6/bin/Xorg(xf86SigHandler+0x81) [0x80c3c71]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

I also notice you're running a non-stock xserver:

xorg-server 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12ubuntu1-jbs1

I don't know what's in jbs1, but we're up to -12ubuntu8, which contains fixes for a variety of mesa/GL problems. Also, we've today released a new -ati driver, version 1:6.7.194-1ubuntu2.

Can you please install and test with these newer versions? If it still locks up, could you also attach the output from lspci -vvnn?

Changed in xorg:
status: New → Incomplete

Thank you. I installed a different server because there was a fedora patch included in the official one that was causing EXA trouble for me. I completely forgot about that, thanks for spotting it and I am sorry I wasted your time. I will post back if it still causes me trouble.

this is with xorg-server 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12ubuntu8 as you can see in the log, same xorg.conf as before

how do I know which log to attach though, like I have Xorg.0.log.old and Xorg.9.log.old? Assuming this is the correct one because of when it was last modified (right when it crashed).
