Browser opens full size Facebook pictures in new window/frame, so "Back" button doesn't work

Bug Description

When choosing "View full size" under pictures on FB, they are opened on a new page, so it's a bit complicated to go back to normal view. If new page, then there should be a "Close" button, at least.

By default, the browser will honour "new window" requests by opening a new *tab*. This is the intended behaviour, not a bug.

I have tried "View full size" on a photo via the FB webapp. It works
exactly as the browser: the full size photo opens on a new page, so the
"back" button won't work, when I'm done watching the photo.
This complicates usage.

Maybe it could be intended differently? With more simple usage in mind?
View image full size, then tap "back" to return to normal view.

It’s facebook that explicitly requests to open a new window/tab, there’s no way the browser can guess that it should in fact have been in the same window and allow the back button to function as if it had.

So, how DOES it work on an iPhone 4? I tap "View full size", opens the pic
full size, then I tap "back", goes back to normal view...

facebook (and other websites) are known to serve different content depending on the UA string. This is a bad practice, and there’s nothing we can do about it (except pretend to be an iphone, but that would bring in other issues). The problem lies on their end.

I see.
Thank you for clarifying this.
