screensaver interrupts fullscreen game (only with compiz enabled)

Bug Description

With compiz enabled, the screensaver will cut into a running, active full screen game. The game jumps out of full-screen (maximized window), and stops receiving any keyboard/mouse input. Alt-tab and any other magic key combinations don't work either. ctrl-alt-backspace works.

I checked this with urbanterror.
I set the screensaver to flipscreen3d (although it seems to happen with any screensaver). It typically happens after 15 minutes (or whatever the default timeout is). Reducing the screensaver idle time to one minute makes it happen after one minute.
If I disable compiz, the screensaver leaves the game alone.

This happened on feisty, but also on gutsy beta. I do have a twinview setup with two displays.

Thanks for your bugreport.

I tried to reproduce this with planet penguin racer in fullscreen mode and the screensaver did not kick in for me with the latest compiz. What game did you used to reproduce the issue?

I did it with urbanterror (http://www.urbanterror.net/news.php), but I also happens with penguin racer.

I said the desktop stopped receiving mouse and keyboard input, but apparantly with penguin racer this doesnt happen: it falls back to window mode, mouse is in the desktop and control is gone from penguin racer.

I get an effect which is like the screensaver kicking in (blank screen only irrespective of choice of screensaver graphic) when playing a dvd in VLC Player with Compiz running. Curious thing is it does it about every 15 minutes regardless of the time set up on screensaver. I have set VLC to disable the screensaver when playing but this has no effect when Compiz is running.

So I suspect a time out default in Compiz that does not recognise when a dvd is playing and throws a blank screen after about 15 minutes of inactivity from keyboard or mouse.

The problem disappears when Compiz is disabled.

I have timed the period between last movement of mouse and blackscreen and it is exactly 10 minutes. The problem DOES NOT disappear when Compiz is disabled. (Apologies for earlier mislead)

What has a default of 10 minutes? Could it be a bug in the Screensaver?

I don't understand the "original bug" thing or duplicated bug, but I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 amd64 and UrbanTerror 4.1 and it happens the same that fraco says.
I use compiz (with Advanced Desktop Effects Settings -> Cube) and when I'm playing UrbanTerror it seems that the Screensaver activates but the game goes to windowed mode and the keyboard and mouse freezes. The only thing that works is CTRL ALT Backspace or CTRL ALT F1 and there login into a new session and pkill UrbanTerror.
