Bug Description

I just installed wengophone on amd64 gutsy and registered a new account using the wizard.

When the main application window is shown it fills the complete screen and can NOT be resized. The preferences window is unusable because the OK-Button is below the screen. I'll attach screenshots.

Added by Ludovico Cavedon:
This problem can be reproduced:
* amd64
* compiz window manager
* plastique qt theme

However it has been reported at least once on i386 without compiz.

i can NOT confirm the behavior on my gutsy install with nvidia-glx and 1280x800 resolution.

i installed via synaptics and then created a new account via the wizard which led me to the registration website.

p.s. if you hold the alt key you can move the window with your mouse. maybe that helps as a workaround.

From the screenshot it seems that the windows do not have the borders from the window manager?
-What window manager are you using? Metacity (gnome default) or compiz?
-Are you able to move the window with the trick exacct suggested?
-Does it happen only with Wengophone? Does it happen also with Qt4 based applications? (e.g K3b)

Thank you for reporting!

You are correct: When using gnome with compiz no borders are drawn. I attached a screenshot from a kde desktop without compiz -> Same bug.
The window is moveable but that does not render it usable. You have to move it about 5 screens to see the other end.
qtwengophone is the only application I could reproduce a similar effect with. k3b, djview4 etc. look as expected.

I've got a laptop running gutsy i386 where this bug does not occour, so i expect it to be something amd64 related.

Great job! I was also able to reproduce it.

I forwarded the bug upstream as ticket http://dev.openwengo.com/trac/openwengo/trac.fcgi/ticket/1851

Thank you

Strange: The borders of the 'Advanced Configuration Window' (but only of this window) are drawn correctly. (Gutsy, amd64)

Seems that the binary of version 2.1.1 from upstream does not have this issue. Note that they are shipping a private version of qt library. I'll do some checks.

In my case the problem appears only with the plastique theme.

Could you please run "qtconfig-qt4", change the GUI style to something else (like "Cleanlooks") and see if you still have this issue?

Thanks

After making that change, I was indeed able to resize the window to a
reasonable size. Thanks!

Hi,

I have the same behaviour on gutsy 64. Anyway if i rightclick on the border of wengo window, minimize and afterwards maximize again it, the program fit normally only one desktop-workspace.
Also the window borders appear. (see attachm. 2)

I'm using Emerald (truglass) as decorator

Hi,
I tested the package with the bugfix from your repo, and it works fine for me.
Window borders appear normally, and resize of the window as well

Thanks

Hi,
I tested the package in your repo and it works. Btw. there was a upload of wengophone to backports. The changelog says there are no changes. What was that?
Thanks

Thank you for testing.
I did not notice that upload. It is an automated backport from hardy. It does not fixes this bug yet. The official version should get uploaded into debian in a few days, than I'll request a sync to hardy, than we'll get a backport to gutsy :)

Bad :(

Three questions:
1) does your wengophone output get *flooded* with messages like:
 X Error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) 11
   Major opcode: 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
   Resource id: 0x14000f8

2) did your remove the directory "~/.wengophone"?

3) "dpkg -l wengophone" output?

Of course not, which makes me look kind of stupid, but it's ok ;-)

Alright, you will be happy to hear that your package actually fixes the problem for me. Thank you very much for the fix! Sorry for the silly report above.
