Bug Description

Only these two types of videos don't show their thumbnails, could it be fixed?

Files does not actually produce thumbnails - this is subcontracted to the system thumbnailer over Dbus. I find .webm files (at least, elephants-dream.webm) thumbnails OK. However, .mkv are not yet thumbnailed although they are recognised by Files as a type of video file.

The thumbnailing service is tumbler. You could try file bug reports at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tumbler

Make sure you have the tumbler-plugins-extra package installed, though.
