Bug Description

When I put the group password and my password for VPN into the network-manager-vpnc popup, I tell it to save the password in my keyring. With Feisty, that worked fine, and after I entered the password for my keyring after logging in, the VPN wouldn't prompt more for a password. With Gutsy, the option to have gnome-keyring not prompt for the password on boot (just assume the desktop has access to the keyring) exists, and I enabled it. NetworkManager now pops up and asks for the VPN passwords even though they're supposed to be in the keyring. I checked with Seahorse, and they do show up in my saved passwords, so I think NM-vpnc isn't accessing the gnome-keyring correctly to retrieve the password.

Same here on gutsy, though I checked "Save password in keyring", I am asked for group and user password everytime.

It would be a good idea (also for LP #91964), if it would add a third checkbox "ask for user/group password every time", but if one also checks "save password...", they would already be filled into the fields, so that i just have to hit "OK".

This might be related to (or a dupllcate of, even) Bug #111507, but I am not sure.

I have "fixed" this by wiping out my whole gnome-keyrings ( rm ~/.gnome2/keyrings/*.keyring ). This removes ALL saved passwords!

Another way how this can be temporally fixed is by using Seahorse (Passwords and Encryption Keys). There you will find your passwords under the tab "passwords". After deleting them, network-manager could remember my password again. At least this is what happened to me. So the problem seems to be related with seahorse.

This was working in Feisty and is no longer working in Gutsy.

Since I wiped my keyrings, it works quite well. I discovered the following behaviour:

* Wenn the VPN connection works, no dialog is shown.
* Wenn connecting fails, an error dialog is displayed.
* The next time, the password/group password dialog is shown, but with the passwords already filled in. This could be to give the user a chance to change the password.
