Bug Description

As of linux image linux-image-3.13.0-62-generic the HDMI port of my Dell Inspiron 15 stopped working:

$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767

The only thing I could do was downgrading the image:
$ sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.13.0-61-generic
$ xrandr

   640x480 59.9
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

Will this be fixed with the next linux image update? Otherwise, I have to pin the current version.

Best
Joachim

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem with Ubuntu 14.04 and a Toshiba Satellite laptop. The HDMI output just disappeared from the xrandr command's output after updating Ubuntu.

Here it is the xrandr output:

Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1366 x 768, maximum 32767 x 32767

As a matter of fact I discovered that kernel 3.13.0-61 was not the reason to make it work again, at least not the kernel itself. After rebooting the running kernel was still 3.13.0-62. But this time the HDMI worked. Maybe the process of installing had a certain side effect. I don't know. Now I am running kernel 3.13.0-63 without any problems.
