BTW:I just installed debugsymbols and they say it's in:
5 FT_Set_Transform() /build/buildd/freetype-2.3.5/freetype-2.3.5/src/base/ftobjs.c:452 0xb7917689

and both delta and internal are NULL pointers!

Please provide us a copy of a PDF with which you can reproduce this error. Without this, I don't believe we'll be able to fix this bug.

Is the crash still reproducible for you with recent versions of Ubuntu?
